PoliEd: From the Nakba to Nasser
PoliEd: From the Nakba to NasserMarch 27, 2024 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
More Info and RSVP:https://actionnetwork.org/events/polied-from-the-nakba-to-nasser Description:Join the Maine DSA Political Education Committee for our first session of the Spring 2024 term! We will be discussing the fourth episode from the Dig podcast's series "Tharwa" on Arab radicalism in the 20th century, featuring an interview with Abdel Razzaq Takriti. The episode, From the Nakba to Nasser "lays out the politics surrounding the Zionist settler colonial
destruction of Palestine, the Nakba of 1948, and the ground-shifting
event that followed in its wake: the Nasser-led 1952 Egyptian Free
Officers Movement coup that would set the tone for two decades of
revolutionary nationalism across the region." Please Note: This session will focus on the lasting effects of the Nakba around the Arab world, including a swell of anti-colonial sentiment and resentment. It is not centered on the Nakba itself. Both the podcast and transcript are available, and discussion questions will be sent to those who have RSVPd. Mask Policy:If this event is in-person and you would like this to be a masked event, please contact the event organizer at least 3 days ahead of time. March with Palestine for Land and Liberation
March with Palestine for Land and LiberationMarch 30, 2024 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
More Info and RSVP:https://actionnetwork.org/events/land-and-liberation Description:Land Day commemorates the Palestinian people’s steadfast resistance against their ongoing forced displacement and the confiscation of their lands by Israel. Since 1976, the day has recognized the sacrifice of those who have bravely stood up against the Israeli occupation with strikes, protests, and demonstrations. Each year’s commemoration amplifies the call for justice, liberation, and the right to return for the Palestinian people. This year, Land Day brings even more fervor and commitment to the Palestinian cause as over a million more Palestinians in Gaza have been further displaced to Rafah and many more are facing catastrophic famine and imposed starvation. On Land Day, we also make the direct connection between the struggle for land sovereignty and the struggle for climate justice. Join us in taking to the streets once more and shutting it down for Palestine - until there is a lasting ceasefire, an end to the siege on Gaza and a free Palestine from the River to the Sea! Bring signs, banners, walking shoes and noises makers. Please RSVP (especially if you plan to march with Maine DSA) so that we know how many comrades to expect. Mask Policy:If this event is in-person and you would like this to be a masked event, please contact the event organizer at least 3 days ahead of time. Contact information for the event organizer should be listed at the RSVP link found above. For complete details about this policy, click here. • |
